Paint Protection Film
The Ram 1500 TRX is a 702-horsepower supercharged truck built to go off-road at speed — which means it's going to get hit by rocks, gravel, mud, and everything else the Texas landscape can throw at it. This owner uses his TRX the way it was intended: off-road runs in the Brazos Valley, highway miles between College Station and Houston, and daily driving on roads that aren't exactly smooth. We installed XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF on the full front end plus rocker panels and wheel arches — the highest-impact zones on a truck that sees real use. The TRX's aggressive front fascia and wide stance required custom-plotted templates that account for the factory lift and flared fenders. The rocker panels on a lifted truck take constant abuse from road debris kicked up by the oversized tires. XPEL Ultimate Plus absorbs all of it and self-heals minor damage with heat. This truck can take a beating and the paint will stay perfect.
The Process
Lift & Fender Assessment
The TRX's factory lift and flared fenders require custom templates — off-the-shelf cuts don't account for the wider stance and modified fender geometry.
Front End Coverage
Full front end: hood, front fenders, front bumper, fog light surrounds, and tow hooks. The TRX's aggressive front fascia has multiple complex curves that require careful heat-forming.
Rocker Panel Protection
Rocker panels on a lifted truck take constant rock chip abuse from the oversized tires. We wrapped the full rocker panel length with extra-wide film sections.
Wheel Arch Coverage
The flared wheel arches are a rock chip magnet. Each arch was wrapped with film that extends into the wheel well opening for complete coverage.
Edge Sealing & Cure
All edges sealed with edge sealer. The truck sat in our bay overnight before delivery to allow full adhesive cure.
Why It Matters
A TRX is a $90,000+ truck that's meant to be driven hard. Rock chips on a truck this expensive are both cosmetic and financial damage — a single chip repair on a metallic paint can cost $300-$500 at a body shop. PPF eliminates that cost entirely. The self-healing film means the owner can drive the truck the way it was built to be driven without worrying about the paint.
